Commercial awareness can be defined as an interest in business and a genuine understanding
of the wider environment in which an organisation operates. This will include customers,
competitors, suppliers and the overall market place. Once you start to include strategy
and financial literacy/ effectiveness, commercial awareness might be better described
as business acumen.
Commercial awareness may mean different things to different businesses and therefore
at Indigo, we offer only bespoke programmes. We interview your business managers
and key stakeholders are interviewed, to determine exactly what you require for your
business. Our consultants will usually be from a financial background, often ex Finance
Director’s in industry, in small and large organisations and well versed in understanding
the complexities of your business model. We will ascertain what you feel your business
managers and personnel require to perform their roles effectively and from this we
will develop a bespoke business case study, based purely on your model and develop
this into a delivered training programme with additional small group learning sets,
to enhance learning and drive cultural business change.
We will build in appropriate leadership models and competencies around a framework
that may include financial driven competencies (see also our business acumen programmes,
where financial literacy is a key ingredient).

and pace.
