Indigo Performance and it’s niche service was created as a result of our 2 co-founders, distinctly different, but highly complimentary skill-sets and in response to a currently changing and highly challenging economic environment.

Helen Lumb has worked in industry for most of her career, and worked predominantly with a collaborative, business partner mentality. A desire to get finance out into the business, she understands commerciality and the need to support business managers to perform their roles in the most competitive, effective and efficient way. Helen has always understood, however, that this way of working presents challenges for the business (in understanding financial language and working efficiently with their finance business partner) and also for the finance professional, who requires a very different skill set than is often associated with accountants.

Communication skills, listening skills, questioning skills and an ability to explain complex finances to people who aren’t naturally comfortable with this discipline is paramount. However, when the combination is right between business manager and finance professional, engagement exists between both parties and the performance that results is exemplary. There is no doubt why a recent IBM study cites that leading CEO’s believe the top personal attributes are Collaboration (75%) and Communication (67%) for greater success.

Dawn Harvey has skills as a leadership development consultant, executive coach and project manager.  She assists individuals, teams and organisations to accelerate performance and achieve goals through assessment, training and coaching. Her ability to diagnose leadership, management and change related problems allows her to design, deliver training, coaching and behavioural change solutions to address these issues. This  combined with the financial expertise and understanding of finance business partnering, as well as producing expert case studies on business acumen and commercial awareness makes Indigo a unique partnership.

Helen and Dawn began working together in 2009, in training, coaching and later as co-directors. In 2011 they had the opportunity to develop a successful strategy, commercial awareness and leadership programme for a SME retail business and at the other end of the size spectrum a commercial awareness framework for a large, national,  household retail pharmacy chain’s 80 area managers.

Indigo Performance was born.
